Sawyer Duncan and John Woodhams won their first doubles squash national championship in Canada over the weekend of March 28. Representing the Piedmont Driving Club, the Southeastern Squash Racquets Association (SESRA), and Atlanta Community Squash, Duncan and Woodhams dropped only one game en route to the 2025 Men’s A Doubles title in Toronto. This is the second national doubles squash championship for Sawyer and John and the first time an Atlanta team has won a Canadian squash national championship. Final rounds were streamed live via SquashCanada’s channel.

The victory was timely and offered some much-needed redemption for the Duncan/Woodhams team, who reached the finals of both the 2025 U.S. Squash National Championships in Baltimore three weeks prior (having had Championship Ball in the fifth game) and the 2025 Eben Hardie PDC Invitational at their home club just one week prior.
Atlanta’s only team in the field was met with tremendous hospitality at their first appearance in the Canadian Nationals, and were graciously hosted by their friends Stuart and Stefanie Hatcher.

Players enjoyed a lavish banquet dinner on Saturday night at the Granite Club’s ballroom, and the tournament offered the chance for Sawyer and John to visit and reconnect with their peers and friends from SquashCanada and all over North America, including Cole Osborne, Michael Woods, Matt Henderson, Rafik Bhaloo, Jerome Trail, Todd Anderson, Tom Harrity, Charlie Humber, Carl Baglio, Tristan Eysele, Ed Winter, Kit Tatum, Clark Amos, Pete Bostwick, Bart Sambrook, Andrew Slater and Ed Chilton.
Returning to the Granite Club for the first time since 2019, the 2025 Canadian Doubles Championships presented by Slaight Music and the Mortgage Company of Canada, took place from March 27 to 30. In addition to the action at the Granite Club, matches were also hosted at Toronto’s premier satellite clubs including The Badminton & Racquet Club, the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, and the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club. This year’s championship was a true celebration of squash, showcasing top-tier talent across all levels and age categories—including the remarkable 70+, 75+, and 80+ divisions.
Squash Canada would like to thank tournament co-chairs Stephanie Edmison & Annette White, as well as valued partners Slaight Music and Mortgage Company of Canada Inc., as well as all the gold, silver, and bronze partners for their support and contributions to this event.
