SESRA’s Erik Granade and Taylor Lanier recently finished in 2nd place in the first U.S. Squash national tournament of 2026. Held on the weekend of January 17 in New York City at the University Club and the Union League Club, the U.S. Century Doubles Championship brings together the finest doubles players in North America of all ages. The “Century” tournament format requires that the ages of both players on a given doubles team must be greater than or equal to 100 years old. Representing SESRA, Atlanta Community Squash and the Piedmont Drivin Club, Erik and Taylor competed in the Century “Legends” draw, which more specifically requires that one player’s age on the team must be 60 or over. Erik, who has established himself as one of the top 60+ squash doubles players in the country, reached the final of this event last year, as well as the final of the 2024 U.S. Squash National Championships in the Men’s 60 division. Erik and Taylor had been honing their games for several weeks prior with as many top-flight practice matches as they could find in preparation for the tournament. Granade and Lanier had two convincing 3-0 victories on Saturday before falling in a tight 3-1 match to New York’s Rick Wahlstedt and Union League Club professional Jonny Smith, 9-15, 15-9, 15-11, 15-14.
